June 19 SF Fundraiser for Gay Iraqi Refugees

One man in San Francisco has been relentless in not only bringing attention to the plight of gay Iraqis inside the country, and those lucky to escape and seek asylum in other countries, but also raising funds to help the refugees. His name is Gary Virginia and I'm proud to work along side him.

Virginia has organized a fundraiser for this Friday and my task to help make it a fabulous success, is to get the word out.

Please repost our colorful flyer and Virginia's note on your blog or news site. Help us publicize the fundraiser, and continue to send much-need money to the gay Iraqi refugees.

Here's Virginia message:

Dear Friends,

Donations of auction and raffle items are still needed as well as more performers for our June 19 event at Cafe Flore.

Many thanks to those who have already committed support including:
Sup. Bevan Dufty, Debra Walker, Danny Nicoletta, Ms. Queen Cougar, Kitty Glamour, Michael Dumont, Michael Petrelis, Jeff Cotter, Sergio (DJ), Terry Yoder, Deana Dawn, Aaron Priskorn, Sister Porn Again, Jacquie Hansen, Unicorn, Kelly Rivera Hart, Sr. Dana van Iquity, Cafe Flore, Rainbow World Fund, Gays Without Borders/SF and more.

Our combined efforts have already raised and sent $7,500 through the Rainbow World Fund (click here to donate now), to groups providing direct support to LGBT Iraqis fleeing the country. 20 such brave individuals were able to escape the country in the last few weeks thanks to our help.

PLEASE help in any way you can ... and pass along this e-mail. We have a moral responsibility to help STOP torture and murder for sexual cleansing purposes by any group, anywhere, anytime. I deeply appreciate your support.

We couldn't do it without you. And it's not too late to help with the fundraiser. To volunteer or donate or perform, please contact me.

PS We hope to show our solidarity in SF with small paper PINK TRIANGLES decorating Cafe Flore during our fund drive ($1 donation). The Pink Triangle was used to identify homosexual prisoners during the Holocaust; Iraq is a Holocaust in our lifetime and we will not be SILENT!
